There have been a total of 37 cases of MPOX infection within the past three weeks alone, leading health officials to closely monitor and take necessary actions to prevent further spread of the virus. These measures are being taken for the safety of the public.
MPOX infections have been on the rise in Korea, and the disease is briefly introduced in the text.
MPOX Symptoms
After being infected with the MPOX, there is an average of 1-2 weeks, and an incubation period of 5-21 days.
Fever, headache, muscle pain, back pain, fatigue, lymph node enlargement, and chills are the main symptoms. These symptoms can also make it difficult for patients to carry out their daily activities. For example, headaches can decrease concentration, and fatigue can make it difficult to perform work duties.
After 1-3 days, a skin rash begins. The rash starts on the face and progresses to the trunk, arms, and legs. However, some patients may not have a rash.
95% of patients have a rash on their face, and 75% have a rash on their hands and feet. Rashes can also appear on the oral mucosa, external genitals, conjunctiva, and cornea.
After 2-4 weeks, it will naturally resolve, but some cases may progress to severe infections. Therefore, prompt treatment is necessary if symptoms persist.
